The drivetrain, fork, and wheels are just a few of the updated components found on Rail 7. The Bosch long-range battery is the major selling point, though. This translates to more fun and runs. A large alloy frame with 150mm of rear travel, a 160mm RockShox Domain fork, a potent new Bosch Performance Line CX 250W motor, a Purion controller, and a 625Wh battery are all included. Powerful Shimano 4-piston brakes for assured descents, a smooth-shifting 1×12 Shimano SLX/XT gear, a dropper post, and tubeless-ready Bontrager Line Comp 30 29er wheels with sealant are all included. This mountain bike is more than meets the eye, as seen by the user-friendly Purion display on the left handlebar. You can choose how much assistance you want from the Bosch motor from the LCD display.

Alpha Platinum Aluminum Frame

Alpha Platinum Aluminum, a sturdy material used to construct the frame, will comfortably withstand the challenging terrain. The frame is designed to work with Trek’s Removable Integrated Battery (RIB), which is totally hidden inside the down tube, giving you space to add a bottle cage. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the frame is built with a Mino Link adaptable geometry.
The top tube of the frame slants downward towards the seat post, which aids in lowering the stand over height of the Rail. Less-than-average riders will enjoy how simple it is to mount the bike as a result. The ergonomic Bontrager XR Rail comp grips contribute to the ride’s increased comfort.

Shimano Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Deore BL-M6100 hydraulic disc brake lever delivers quick, intuitive brake engagement with a shorter free stroke; fully rider-tunable so you can ride focused on the trail ahead

The SHIMANO DEORE M6120 caliper features consistent braking performance and reliable stopping power in all conditions. The 4-piston caliper instills greater downhill confidence and control.

These should let you to brake effectively in all weather conditions and offer you the assurance to tackle slick terrain and steep descents without worrying about slipping.

Removable Integrated Battery & Range

RIB is a one-piece battery and cover with a built-in handle that can be withdrawn from the frame and put back in without any trouble or the need for tools. It’s the most practical way to take your battery out for transportation, safety, or simply for simpler charging.

Check out Bosch’s range calculator to determine how far you can travel on an electric mountain bike with one charge. You can make changes to achieve your most precise estimate even if we’ve pre-filled the data for this bike model and the typical rider. Calculate your range here.

Rail 7 Geometry

The Trek Rail 7’s geometry can be changed by a flip chip by up to 0.5°. The Rail handled quite well, and we preferred the “low” setting on the terrain. The rider’s center of gravity is nicely positioned low on the bike thanks to the bottom bracket drop, which is the lowest in the test at 35 mm. Similar to the CUBE, the Trek’s seat tube has a characteristic kink that causes it to slacken as your seatpost extends.

Custom eMTB Lite mode

Instead of a Tour mode, Trek eMTBs have a unique eMTB Lite mode. You get longer battery life and more natural-feeling power delivery.

Bosch Performance Line CX motor

With up to 85Nm of torque and a sophisticated eMTB mode with Extended Boost that automatically varies the amount of assist according on the terrain, the Bosch Performance Line CX sets the bar for eMTB performance.

Oh! What a feeling

Core reasons to love Rail 7 are:

The Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) technology from Trek is very user-friendly and has a nice appearance: The battery is completely concealed in the frame for protection, and removing the battery is simple and tool-free.

You can climb steep hills with ease because to the Bosch motor’s powerful and efficient performance.

Made with the same exclusive frame technology as Remedy and Slash, including Active Braking Pivot, Straight Shot down tube for added stiffness, and Mino Link adjustable geometry (ABP)

Rail is just as brutal as its non-electric cousins, and it also propels you back up the mountain without the need for a shuttle or lift.

The Purion controller offers a Walk Assist feature and an innovative eMTB mode that adjusts power delivery automatically to the terrain.

Our Rating

You have enough power from the Bosch motor to climb steep hills with ease and to continue exploring all day.

The Trek Rail 7’s structure is skilfully engineered, of the greatest quality, and integrates the entire Bosch system. As soon as the route begins to descend, the Trek Rail 7 raises the bar for this group challenge. It literally glides by the competition like it’s on rails, whether it’s flowing or technical, and it also provides plenty of comfort for extended days in the saddle. The Rail 7 is the only bike that reacts to an active riding style as well, enabling aggressive riders to push their boundaries.
