Features
The Defy Advanced 2 is created with a specialized carbon layup and is handcrafted using Advanced-grade composite material for a smooth, high-performance ride that will help you push your endurance to new heights. The D-Fuse seatpost and handlebar system also contributes to the bike’s smooth, compliant ride by minimizing road vibrations. Speed and economy are increased while flats are less likely with a tubeless Giant WheelSystem and tyres. Additionally, it has integrated disc brakes with flat-mount disc brake tabs and 12mm thru-axles for increased control.
Advanced Composite Technology Frame & RideSense
This proprietary frame material with a high stiffness-to-weight ratio is created at Giant’s own composite factory using the company’s High Performance Grade raw carbon material. Through the use of a patented manufacturing technique called Modified Monocoque Construction, the front triangle of these framesets is put together and moulded as a single continuous piece. Although the Cervelo P5′s saddle visibly bends when a hand is resting on it, the Defy’s substantial tyre clearances, which can accommodate rubber up to 35mm, may suggest that it doesn’t need to be as flexible.
This frame is already set up to take the Giant RideSense sensor and related components.
Defy Advanced 2 D-Fuse Technology
In 2014, Giant debuted their revolutionary D-Fuse technology for the first time. It was initially created as a seatpost for high-level cyclocross bikes because it would smooth out the ride and provide the rider more control over rough terrain by absorbing shocks and vibrations. The characteristic “D-shaped” tube with a rounded front and flattened rear section serves as the foundation of this ground-breaking idea. D-Fuse was eventually added to endurance road and gravel bikes as well as the front part of the bicycle following its success in cyclocross, which included many world championship championships. Together with the seatpost, the handlebars add compliance at two crucial points of contact without the extra complexity or weight that comes with pivots or inserts.
OverDrive in Defy Advanced 2
Technology for huge fork steerer tubes developed by Giant. The system’s enlarged headset bearings (1 1/4″ lower and 1 1/8″ upper for road, 1 1/2″ lower and 1 1/8″ higher for mountain) and tapered steerer tube work together to produce ideal steering rigidity. They are designed to provide precise front-end steering performance.
Compact Road Design
Giant’s introduction of Compact Road in the 1990s alongside the elite Team ONCE forever changed the appearance and feel of high-performance road bikes. Smaller front and rear triangles result from a toptube that slopes downhill from the headtube to the seattube, making the bike lighter and more rigid. Additionally, it makes it simpler for riders of all sizes to find the ideal fit.
Tubeless System
Less tyre blowouts improved traction a smoother, faster ride, and less rolling resistance. All these advantages are now more accessible than ever thanks to Giant’s Tubeless System.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs:
What is the weight of a Giant Defy Advanced 2?
Giant Defy Advanced 2 weigh around 8.3kg (L).
Can a giant defy ride gravel?
Giant’s maximum tyre size recommendation is 35mm; while this is insufficient for riding only on gravel, it is enough for all other situations.
Is a giant defy advanced fast?
Even on bumpy roads, the Defy Advanced Pro delivers a fast, smooth ride thanks to the ideal balance of stiffness and compliance. Its cutting-edge technology include a Contact SLR D-Fuse composite handlebar and a D-Fuse composite seatpost (Pro 1 and Pro 2 models)
Is Giant Defy better than TCR?
A 2021 TCR Advanced SL and a 2021 Defy Advanced 2 (current generation). Without sacrificing performance, the Defy feels considerably more comfortable. Take it with a grain of salt though, as the TCR has lighter wheels and higher quality carbon fiber and is stiffer and slightly quicker when rising out of the saddle.
What type of bike is Giant Defy?
Although the Defy is Giant’s endurance road bike, it is not a tall, upright touring bike masquerading as a racing machine like some of its rivals. For the majority, the geometry is more than sporty enough. The Defy has excellent handling, and my large test bike has a 605mm stack, 390mm reach, and 58mm of trail.
What is difference between Giant Defy Advanced and Pro?
The Advanced Pro’s OverDrive 2 steerer makes a noticeable difference in the front end stiffness, but Giant is still sure that the OverDrive steerer is an upgrade over other standard setups.
